Green Sea Turtle

Chelonia mydas

Green Sea Turtle
Where to See It Seagrass beds and quiet bays while snorkelling and diving

Named for the green fat beneath its shell rather than its colour, this gentle giant grazes the seagrass meadows like an underwater cow, and in doing so keeps them healthy for everything else that lives there. Calm and curious, green turtles are a regular and joyful sight for snorkellers in Grenada's sheltered bays. Like every sea turtle in these waters, they are protected — admire from a respectful distance and never give chase.
