Where to See It Reefs and rocky shallows while snorkelling

Deep, electric blue and shaped like a coin, the blue tang drifts over the reef in loose, grazing shoals. Each carries a small but sharp spine at the base of the tail — the surgeon's blade that gives the surgeonfish family its name. Young fish are a startling bright yellow, so different they look like another creature entirely.
