Bougainvillea

Bougainvillea glabra

Bougainvillea
Where to See It Tumbling over walls, gateways and hillsides everywhere

The colour that frames the island. What look like papery petals of magenta, coral, white and flame are in fact bracts — modified leaves that cradle the tiny true flowers within. Hardy, thorny and gloriously exuberant, bougainvillea drapes itself over Grenadian walls and balconies with no encouragement at all.
