Brown Pelican
Where to See It Grand Anse, the Carenage and every working shoreline

A familiar and beloved sight along Grenada's coasts, the brown pelican is the only pelican that hunts by plunge-diving, folding its wings and crashing beak first into the sea to scoop fish into its great expandable pouch. Once gravely threatened by pesticides, it has made a heartening recovery. Watch one fish at Grand Anse as the sun drops, and you have the Caribbean in a single image.
