Brown Booby

Sula leucogaster

Brown Booby
Where to See It Headlands, offshore islets and open water

A handsome seabird of chocolate brown and clean white, the brown booby plunges from a height into the sea, wings folded like an arrow. It nests on offshore islets and rocky cliffs, and is often seen patrolling the headlands or following a yacht out on the water. Its name comes from an old word for foolish, for its tameness on the nest.
