Small Indian Mongoose

Urva auropunctata

Small Indian Mongoose
Where to See It Roadsides, fields and forest edges, by day

A slender, low-slung hunter brought here long ago to control snakes and rats in the cane fields. Quick and curious, it is often glimpsed darting across a road. Clever as it is, it has been hard on Grenada's ground-nesting birds and reptiles, which is exactly why patient predator control matters so much in the reserves.
