Where to See It Damp gardens and estate grounds, the wetter interior

Dramatic and unmistakable, the torch ginger raises a great waxy bloom on a stem that can reach well above head height, like a flaming pink torch planted in the green. The young flower buds are edible and prized in island and Asian cooking, and the whole plant brings a touch of theatre to a shady Grenadian garden.
